Our Team

Through the course of working over twelve years in the language services industry, Caroline has become a highly successful leader with an expertise in building and managing high performing teams. Beginning with earning a degree in conference interpreting from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, Caroline worked her way up from directly handling translation and interpretation projects to championing and managing large-scale language projects for both government and private industry.

Based on her experience, Caroline has a deep understanding of the capabilities of her team as well as the tools, methods, and procedures that can help streamline workflows to complete projects quickly and efficiently. These experiences and her familiarity with a variety of tools and methods have helped Caroline find solutions, develop strategies, and to execute localization ideas to address the needs of her clients.

Through Accent On Languages, Caroline hopes to help bring about an improvement in the lives of all of those who our work touches upon. By bridging the gap between communicators, and by bringing together different and diverse parties with unique perspectives, life experiences, and needs, Accent On Languages can help each of our clients magnify their impact and to build relationships with a much wider audience.

When Caroline isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends enjoying foods from around the world. Caroline also enjoys snowboarding, hiking, and trying new activities.

Eduardo Puyol-Martinez is from Barcelona, Spain, and a native speaker of Catalan and Spanish.

Prior to moving to the United States in 2006, Eduardo graduated from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Textile Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Industrial Management. He accumulated extensive experience writing technological grant research proposals for the Spanish textile industry and collaborating with diverse engineering teams across Europe.

Since joining Accent on Languages in 2007, Eduardo has helped the Accent On Languages team serve the County of Alameda, Bay Area Rapid Transit, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Justice, and many other clients. Eduardo’s work often involves training and overseeing Project Managers and preparing proposals for translation and interpretation projects.

Outside of work, Eduardo loves collecting vinyl records, turntables, and other vintage audio equipment. He also enjoys movies of all genres.
Born and raised in China, Baoze Zhang is a native Mandarin speaker. Graduating from Beijing Foreign Studies University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Translation and Interpretation gave him a passion for the language services industry, which led him to obtain a Master’s Degree in Translation and Localization Management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.

Baoze joined Accent on Languages in June 2022, aiming to help people overcome language barriers and connect the world. He handles the entire workflow of translation projects from the initial client request through to final delivery. He is responsible for delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. In the future, Baoze hopes to identify process improvements and other quality enhancements within the company. In his free time, he likes music and video games.

Kelly Moody

Kelly Moody was born and raised in Southern California and came to the Bay Area 16 years ago, and joined Accent on Languages in 2004. As Project Manager, she establishes strong working relationships with clients and vendors to ensure each project achieves its goals.

Prior to joining Accent on Languages, she spent several years in customer services/relations at some of the world’s finest hotels, always meeting the unique needs of guests. She now enjoys discovering and focusing on the individual needs of Accent on Languages clients.

In her spare time, Kelly enjoys all things outdoors, spending time with family, playing scrabble, having morning tea, and daily Rummikub matches with her husband. She recently completed a 35-mile bike ride through the back roads of Sonoma County’s wine country.
Melissa Gomez was born in Jalisco, Mexico, and is a native Spanish speaker. She received her Associates Degree in Business Administration from Contra Costa College in 2017 and is in the process of obtaining her BA in General Management from CSU East Bay.

Melissa joined Accent on Languages in 2017, and she is now a Project Manager/Proposal Specialist. She handles incoming interpreting requests, recruiting and onboarding of linguists for government contracts, and the review of bid requests for proposals/potential contracts.

She prides herself on providing speedy responses to clients’ questions and on her ability to find solutions that improve efficiencies for all parties.

In her free time, she likes to workout at the gym or go dancing with her friends.

Nestor Guzman

Translation/Localization Project Manager

Nestor was born in Berkeley, California, and has lived in the Bay Area all his life. His interest in working with languages stems from his experiences translating and interpreting for his Spanish speaking parents. Nestor joined Accent on Languages in February 2019 and has established himself as a fundamental part of the translation team.

Nestor enjoys helping others with their language/translation needs and plans to grow and excel in his role as Assistant Project Manager, where he handles translation requests, as well as projects and questions related to translation on a daily basis. Nestor ensures projects are in order and ready to translate and/or deliver to clients on time. He goes beyond and above for clients to accurately and carefully take care of their translation needs and concerns.

In his free time, Nestor enjoys working out, making music, and traveling.
William “Matt” Northup joined Accent on Languages in mid-2016. He left California to graduate from Sarah Lawrence College with a concentration in Global Studies. As part of his education, he coordinated with local Dalit activists in Madurai, India, and documented ways that colonial- era religious conversions interconnect with past and present caste inequalities.

Matt is proficient in French, conversational in Russian, and has begun studying Gaelic. He is a long-time supporter of the Choctaw Tribe's Chahta Foundation and their innovative language revitalization program. That commitment to nurturing diversity motivates him at his role at Accent on Languages, where he supports our clients in a variety of ways as the office manager– but always in recognition of the mission to create an inclusive and equitable community and workplace.

Frances Kate Mojica

Assistant

Frances Kate Mojica was born in the Philippines, and is a native speaker of Tagalog. Before joining Accent on Languages, she worked as an ESL tutor catering to different nationalities, and is a TESOL Certificate holder. She has been working with the company since December 2021, administering upkeep of its records, along with coordinating several recruitment campaigns. Kate is also responsible for research of potential linguistics projects for the company.

Kate is fond of photography, gastronomy, social media, and coffee.

Virginia Bertorello

Virginia Bertorello was born and raised in Córdoba, Argentina. At Accent, Virginia manages and supports interpretation and translation projects. She excels at proactively identifying project inefficiencies, developing strategic responses, and training new members of the team. Prior to joining Accent, Virginia managed projects for both American and Canadian telecommunication companies, and she has also worked as a translator.

Virginia is passionate about travelling and meeting new people around the world. She enjoys spinning, going for walks, and spending time with her husband Alejandro and her daughter Isabella. 
Hanna was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and joined Accent on Languages in May of 2023. Her passion and interest in languages stems from her time growing as a bilingual speaker. Hanna received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Spanish and Hispanic Studies which allowed her to gain experience in higher education as a Spanish educator, and spent time traveling abroad, leading to her growing passion for languages.

Hanna is very dedicated to helping others and aims to provide the best language services. She hopes to create an environment that is inclusive and welcoming, with the goal of successfully assisting each individual and creating strong relationships with clients to lessen the language divide. Upon arriving at Accent, as Interpreting Project Manager, Hanna’s first project included working with USCIS to screen and clear interpreters due to the end of Title 42. She is very eager to continue to carry out this project as well as future projects.

Outside of Accent, Hanna enjoys spending time with her family by visiting local breweries, hiking, and traveling to any place with a beach. She also loves playing video games, reading, and spending her free time creating social media content about makeup and lifestyle.

Kai Sun

Born and raised in Yunnan province, home to 27 ethnic minorities in Southwest China, Kai knows how important it is to communicate regardless of language barriers and how valuable mother languages are. With that in mind, Kai earned a master’s degree in Translation and Interpreting from Yunnan Minzu University in China and another Master’s in Translation and Localization Management from Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey in the US.

Kai joined Accent on Languages in 2023 as the Interpreting Project Manager, aiming to coordinate bespoke interpreting services to bridge cultural and linguistic differences.

In his free time, Kai enjoys traveling and watching anime and documentaries.
Raised in Shanghai with exposure to Western culture from a very young age, Cecilia grew up constantly fascinated by varying cultures and languages. After finishing her Bachelor’s degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel hill in political science and peace, war, and defense, she pursued her passion in languages and received a Master’s degree at Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey in Translation and Localization Management.

Cecilia joined Accent on Languages as an interpreting project manager. She is also a freelance Chinese and Japanese linguist. To her, localization is more than just translating words to words, but bridging cultures with cultures, contributing to a greater cause of globalization.

On her days off, Cecilia’s favorite thing to do is enjoy a good book with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc or Blonde Ale. Ask her about her favorite book or alcoholic drink and you won’t hear the end of it.

Macarena Ampudia

Macarena was born in a small town in Argentina. Since she was young she was interested in languages and started learning English at age 7. When she graduated high school she started her Master’s degree in Translation and Interpretation. In her free time she likes to help friends and relatives translate things they didn’t understand from English to Spanish. That’s when she realized she could help other people who were in the same situation and started working as a teacher helping Spanish-speaking people learn the language. Then an opportunity came to work as an interpreter to help Latin-American families living in the US. After two years of doing that, life brought her to Accent on Languages.
